History

The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) is an international private doctoral and research University, founded originally in 1955. It has campuses in several countries (United States, United Arab Emirates, China), including one in Vancouver, British Columbia, with two different locations in the city.

Notable projects

NYIT is known for its use of technology and is the birthplace of complete CGI films, dating back to the late ’70s. It is also known for creating strategic alliances with technological institutions like Verizon, the Entrepreneurship Technology Innovation Center, National Science Foundation, in order to create important technological advances like the thin film sensor, and in exchange for multimillion-dollar donations.

There are many notable alumni in the university:

  • Vincent L. Sadusky: Chief Executive Officer at Univision Communications Inc.
  • Kyriacos A. Athanasiou: Chair of the Biomedical Engineering department at the University of California. 
  • Lance Williams: Graphics researcher.
