History

Georgian College was formed when the public system of post-secondary education of Ontario was founded in 1967. Since then, Georgian College is known for its outstanding Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology. Today, more than 13,000 full-time students, of which 3,600 are international students, are enrolled in Georgian College. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and even doctoral degrees. Additionally, classrooms have an average of 26 students to ensure participation during lectures.

Notable alumni

  • Dale George: Scientist who specializes in airplanes and spacecraft designs. He has worked for NASA on several projects. He won the 2012 Premier’s Awards for his technology work and is also a university professor.
  • Jon Montgomery: Winner of the Olympic gold medal at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics in the Skeleton, and a sports journalist for Canadian television, specializing in winter sports.
  • Aylan Couchie: Artist and sculptor with an extensive list of international accolades, such as the Native Women in the Arts Barbara Laronde Award and the Pratt Homes Sculpture.
